Jind, Haryana: A tragic road accident occurred on Thursday evening around 3 PM near Pillukhera on the 152D highway when an unidentified vehicle collided with a stationary car. The accident claimed the life of 38-year-old Vikas Mehra, a bank manager from Bewal village in Mahendragarh district, and left another manager, Piyush from Gurugram, seriously injured.
Incident Details
According to a complaint filed by Srikant Konda, an SBI manager from Rudra Mahadevi Colony in Telangana’s Warangal district, the incident occurred when he and three colleagues were traveling to attend the wedding of a bank employee’s nephew in Assandh, Karnal district. The group, comprising Vikas Mehra, Piyush, and Ankit from Charkhi Dadri, were all bank managers traveling together in a car driven by Piyush.
When the group reached near Jamni Toll Plaza, the car developed a mechanical issue. Piyush stopped the car and moved it to the roadside. He and Ankit decided to walk towards Pillukheda to find a mechanic, leaving Vikas and Piyush near the vehicle.
The Collision
Shortly after Piyush and Ankit left, a loud explosion was heard. They rushed back to the highway, only to find Vikas and Piyush lying severely injured near the car. The vehicle had been struck by an unidentified vehicle, the driver of which fled the scene immediately after the collision.
Aftermath
Both injured managers were rushed to Jind Civil Hospital. Tragically, doctors declared Vikas Mehra dead on arrival, while Piyush is undergoing treatment for serious injuries. The car was heavily damaged, and the unidentified vehicle involved in the crash remains untraced.
Police Investigation Underway
The Pillukheda police station has registered a case based on Srikant Konda’s complaint. Efforts are underway to identify and locate the driver and the vehicle responsible for the collision. This tragic accident has left the banking community in mourning, highlighting the importance of road safety and vigilance while traveling, especially during emergencies.
