Unknown thieves stole cash worth lakhs of rupees by breaking the wall of Axis Bank branch in village Bhawanipur on Goindwal Sahib Road, Kapurthala. The incident has also been captured in CCTV. After receiving information about the incident, police station Kotwali reached the spot and started investigation by taking possession of CCTV footage.
In the same Axis Bank branch, in September 2022, thieves had stolen cash worth lakhs of rupees by breaking the wall in a similar manner. Bank manager Manish Sharma refused to say anything in this regard and said that only corporate communication people can tell anything about this.
SHO Kotwali Balwinder Singh Bhullar said that a case has been registered against unknown thieves and investigation has been started. At present, bank officials have not disclosed the amount stolen.
Manish Sharma, branch manager of Axis Bank, village Bhawanipur told the police that in the morning he got a call from the bank that the camera installed outside the bank was broken and some path had been made by breaking the wall of the bank.
When Manish Sharma immediately reached the spot with his fellow bank employees, he saw that goods were scattered inside the bank. The security panel and door of the safe room were also broken and the cash lying in it was also stolen. This information has been given to the police.
SHO Balwinder Singh Bhullar said that after receiving information about the incident, he along with the police party reached the spot and started checking the CCTV cameras installed near the incident site. The faces of unknown thieves are also visible in the cameras. A case has been registered on the complaint of bank manager Manish Sharma and investigation has been started.
Corporate Communication Officer Naisi Pancholi clearly refused to divulge anything about the loss and said that she has given the details to the police and the police has refused to tell anything to anyone at the moment.
