RBI imposes penalty on 3 more co-operative banks
The RBI has imposed monetary penalty on 3 more co-operative banks – Sri Bharathi Co-operative Urban Bank Limited, Hyderabad, The Chikmagalur District Co-operative Central Bank Ltd., Karnataka and The Citizens Urban Cooperative Bank Ltd., Jalandhar, Punjab.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has, by an order dated June 25, 2026, imposed a monetary penalty of ₹5 lakh (Rupees Five Lakh only) on The Citizens Urban Cooperative Bank Ltd., Jalandhar, Punjab as the bank had sanctioned loans beyond the prescribed regulatory limit to certain nominal members; and failed to put in place two factor authentication for accessing the Core Banking Solution.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has, by an order dated June 25, 2026, imposed a monetary penalty of ₹1.50 lakh (Rupees One Lakh Fifty Thousand only) on Sri Bharathi Co-operative Urban Bank Limited, Hyderabad as the bank had sanctioned director related loans; and failed to ensure that small value loans comprised at least 40 percent of its aggregate loans and advances as on March 31, 2025.
