On July 27, public sector lender Punjab National Bank reported a net profit of Rs 3,252 crore for the quarter ending June 30, 2024, marking a 159 percent increase from the previous year. The bank’s net interest income reached Rs 9,504.3 crore, reflecting a 10.2 percent year-on-year growth. The bank’s gross non-performing assets (NPAs) decreased to 4.98 percent from 5.73 percent in the previous quarter. The state-owned bank reported a 4.4% year-on-year increase in savings deposits, reaching Rs 4,84,377 crore. Current deposits and CASA deposits amounted to Rs 64,702 crore and Rs 5.49 lakh crore, respectively, for the June quarter. The bank’s net non-performing assets (NNPA) fell by Rs 11,199 crore, totaling Rs 5,930 crore as of June 2024, down from Rs 17,129 crore a year earlier.
