Punjab National Bank Manger arrested by CBI for taking bribe in KCC Loan

In the village of Sikandarpur Khagi in the Sambhal district, the CBI team from Ghaziabad has arrested the Branch Manager of Punjab National Bank (PNB), Durgesh Kumar Gupta, for accepting a bribe. This bribe demand was made in the context of a 4 lakh rupees loan (KCC) application.

After initially demanding 20,000 rupees, the final agreement was settled at 6,000 rupees.During the exchange of this amount, the CBI team apprehended the bank manager.

The bribe demand was made to a farmer named Devendra, residing in the village of Bheekampur in the Sambhal district. To facilitate the transaction, the manager had involved a bank recovery agent named Harswaroop alias Khyaali Ram.

On Wednesday, the CBI conducted a raid at the bank following this information, and both the Branch Manager, Durgesh Kumar Gupta, and the recovery agent were apprehended.

They were presented in the special CBI court of Judge Vatsal Shrivastav in Ghaziabad on Thursday. Both accused have been remanded in judicial custody for 14 days, and a court hearing has been scheduled for October 30.

It has been revealed that the loan application was for 4 lakh rupees. After the loan approval, the bank manager, Durgesh Kumar Gupta, demanded 20,000 rupees, which was later negotiated down to 6,000 rupees.

Following their arrest, the branch manager and recovery agent were relieved from their duties at the bank.The CBI team carried out a thorough operation for approximately 15 hours.

The bank manager was apprehended while accepting the bribe at around 3 p.m. on Wednesday.

Subsequently, their mobile phones, documents, and computers were scrutinized. Questioning took place with all bank employees, and around 6 a.m. on Thursday, those employees who were on leave were called back to the branch. Normal operations at the branch resumed after these actions.
