IBA Asks Banks to Organise ‘GenZ Against Addiction’ Campaign
The Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) has asked its member banks to participate in a nationwide anti-addiction campaign titled “GenZ Against Addiction, Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat – Sankalp Abhiyan” on August 2, 2026.
In a communication dated July 31, 2026, addressed to the Chairman of State Bank of India (SBI) and the Managing Directors and CEOs of member banks, IBA requested banks to organise the campaign at a minimum of 10 locations in their respective banks.
The campaign is being organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, through MY Bharat. It is scheduled to be virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 2, 2026.
More than 10,000 locations across the country will be connected during the launch. Sankalp Abhiyan will be launched, which aims at bringing young people together to take a collective pledge against substance abuse and contribute towards the goal of a drug-free and developed India.
The programme will involve 125 spiritual organisations associated with the initiative, along with NGOs, Youth Clubs, Industrial Associations, MY Bharat NSS-affiliated colleges and MY Bharat volunteers.
Participants will join the programme from their respective locations and collectively take the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Pledge” during the inauguration. They will also listen to the Prime Minister’s address and participate in different activities focused on spreading awareness against substance abuse.
Various activities have been planned as part of the campaign, including walkathons, meditation sessions, cultural programmes, sports events and awareness drives. These programmes will be organised around the central theme of creating a “Nasha Mukt Bharat” and encouraging young people to stay away from substance abuse.
IBA has now been given the responsibility of conducting the activity at 100 locations through its member banks. Accordingly, the association has requested banks to make arrangements for the programme at at least 10 locations in their respective banks.
