Government Extends Tenure of Canara Bank Executive Director Hardeep Singh Ahluwalia

The Ministry of Finance has extended the tenure of Shri Hardeep Singh Ahluwalia, Executive Director of Canara Bank, until his superannuation on 30 June 2027, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. His current term was due to end on 6 February 2026.

The extension was approved through a notification issued by the Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance, on 15 September 2025, and received by the Bank on 16 September 2025.

About Hardeep Singh Ahluwalia

Shri Ahluwalia began his banking career in 1992 as an Agricultural Field Officer with Allahabad Bank (now Indian Bank). He holds a degree in Agriculture and is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers. He has also completed professional certifications in Credit Management from NIBM Pune, and a Diploma in Computer Applications in Financial Management.

With over three decades of banking experience, he has worked across rural, semi-urban, urban, and metro regions in India, as well as overseas in Hong Kong. He has served in several senior roles, including Lead District Manager, International Branch Head, Zonal Head (Chandigarh), FGM/CGM (Kolkata), and various other administrative positions.

Before being appointed as Executive Director of Canara Bank, he was General Manager of the Recovery Department at Indian Bank’s Corporate Office.

Apart from his banking career, he has also contributed significantly to sports as the President of the Indian Bank Cultural & Sports Committee. He has attended several leadership training programmes, including the Leadership Development Programme at IIM Bangalore, curated by the Banks Board Bureau.
