A shocking incident has come to light in Modinagar, Ghaziabad, where gold worth approximately Rs 50 lakh has gone missing from a locker in the Bank of Baroda. The case was discovered on Monday when a couple, Ankush and Isha Goyal, arrived at the bank to check their locker, only to find it broken and completely empty.

The couple immediately filed a complaint at Modinagar police station, accusing the bank staff of negligence. Investigations are currently underway, with both the police and bank officials looking into the matter.

Ankush Goyal, a long-time resident of Modinagar, revealed that he has had an account with the Bank of Baroda for over 20 years. Due to the trust he placed in the bank, he had also rented a locker to store his family’s valuable jewellery.

The incident came to light when Ankush received a phone call from the bank on Monday morning. Concerned, he rushed to the bank with his wife, Isha Goyal. Upon reaching, they were shocked to find that the locker gate was broken. Inside, all the jewellery was missing.

Isha Goyal explained that the locker contained about 40 tola of gold and between 50-60 tola of silver jewellery. “Now, the locker is completely empty. Everything is gone,” she said, distressed.

Ankush mentioned that they last visited the locker in August, and at that time, everything was in order. “The locker was perfectly fine during our last visit, but now the bank seems to be avoiding responsibility,” he added.

The Goyal family has lodged a formal complaint at the Modinagar police station, and further investigations are ongoing. Both the police and bank officials are trying to determine how the locker could have been broken into, and where the missing jewellery could be.
