In the peaceful town of Khatushyamji, a shocking incident has come to light involving the theft of valuable jewelry from a locker at the State Bank of India. The case, which has left the local community concerned, involves the disappearance of one kilogram of gold, 1.600 kilograms of silver ornaments, and other precious jewelry.

Background of the Case

The victim, Suresh Harnathka, is the President of Khatu Dham Vyapar Mandal, a local trade association. About ten years ago, he had secured a locker at the State Bank of India to store his family’s valuable possessions. Over the years, both Suresh and his wife, Sunita Devi, have regularly used the locker to keep their jewelry safe.

Details of the Theft

According to Suresh Harnathka, the locker contained a substantial amount of jewelry, including 500 grams of gold and one kilogram of silver ornaments that belonged to him and his wife. Additionally, the locker also held 500 grams of gold and 600 grams of silver ornaments that belonged to their daughter-in-law and daughter. The family’s ancestral jewelry, passed down through generations, was also stored in the same locker.

The theft was discovered on a routine visit to the bank. On a Monday, Sunita Devi went to the bank to access the locker, only to find that all the jewelry was missing. This discovery was a massive shock to the family, especially considering the sentimental and financial value of the stolen items.

What Happened Before the Theft

Suresh Harnathka recalled that the last time the locker was accessed was during the Diwali festival on 3 November 2021. The family had taken out some jewelry for the celebrations and had carefully placed everything back in the locker on 18 November 2021. Since then, they had not accessed the locker, making the theft even more mysterious.

One important detail to note is the security system of the bank locker. A locker can only be opened with two keys – one held by the bank manager and the other by the locker owner. This dual-key system is meant to provide an extra layer of security, raising questions about how the theft could have occurred.

Investigation Underway

The local police have promptly registered a case and begun their investigation. Meanwhile, the bank’s branch manager, Sandeep Singh, has stated that according to their records, Suresh Kumar last accessed the locker in November 2021, and after that, there was no record of any items being returned to the locker. Despite this, the bank is thoroughly checking their records to ensure no discrepancies.

This incident has not only shaken the Harnathka family but also raised concerns among other locker holders in the town. The investigation is ongoing, and both the police and the bank are working to uncover how such a significant amount of jewelry could go missing from a securely locked locker.

As the investigation progresses, the community is eagerly awaiting answers and hoping that the stolen jewelry is recovered soon.
