A case of fraud has been registered against four individuals, including the branch manager and field officer of Bank of Baroda’s Jamo branch, on the orders of a local court. The police have launched an investigation into the matter.

The case pertains to a fraudulent loan taken against the land of Amarnath, a resident of Keshavpur Majra Umradih in the Jamo police station area. The incident came to light in January when Amarnath discovered irregularities while reviewing his land records. On September 13, 2023, he found that a loan of Rs 4.80 lakh had been registered in his name, and his land had been mortgaged without his knowledge.

Distressed by the discovery, Amarnath conducted his own inquiry and found that the branch manager, Deepak Kanaujia, along with field officer Kamlesh Tiwari and Vinod Kumar, both residents of Biripur village, had conspired to approve the loan by using fraudulent documents, including a fake photograph of Amarnath. They subsequently withdrew the funds.

Amarnath initially approached the police, but when no action was taken, he sought legal recourse. Acting on the court’s directive, Jamo police have now registered a fraud case against the four accused individuals.

SHO Vinod Singh confirmed the registration of the case and stated that further action would be taken following the investigation. The case has raised concerns about potential lapses in the internal processes of the bank.
