Rajasthan: A fire broke out at the PNB Bank located on Sikandra Road in Bandikui, causing panic. Bandikui Municipal Corporation rushed to the scene upon receiving the information about the fire incident but couldn’t control it. Subsequently, fire brigades from Dausa and Mahwa were called, finally bringing the fire under control. The silver lining amidst the incident was that the cash and gold kept in the bank remained safe.

Meanwhile, Bandikui Municipal Corporation’s claims regarding the availability of firefighting equipment proved to be hollow. The cause of the fire remains unknown, although a short circuit is suspected. The incident occurred at 8:30 am on Wednesday. Upon hearing the alarm, bank manager Suresh Gurjar opened the office gate, only to be greeted by smoke. According to bank employees, goods worth lakhs were reduced to ashes during the incident.

During the fire incident, Bandikui Municipal Corporation reached the scene with a fire brigade, but the fire was too fierce to be contained. Despite three fire brigades standing by at Bandikui Municipal Corporation, only one managed to reach the scene. Local residents claim that two out of three fire brigades stationed at Bandikui Municipal Corporation were dysfunctional. Consequently, fire brigades were summoned from Mahwa and Dausa. After bringing water from five tankers and nearly two hours of rigorous efforts, the fire was finally brought under control.

Bank manager Suresh Gurjar reported that when he reached the bank premises upon hearing the alarm, the bank was engulfed in flames. Furniture in the PNB Bank premises was reduced to ashes during the incident. Additionally, documents and eight laptops from the bank were also burnt. He explained that the fire broke out due to unknown reasons, which will be investigated.

The bank manager revealed that at the time of the fire, the bank had Rs. 30 lakhs in cash and gold stored in the locker. However, due to the timely control of the fire, the cash and gold worth Rs. 30 lakhs remained intact. During the fire, SDM Ram Singh Rajawat and Bandikui police station in-charge Surendra Malik, along with police, were present at the scene. However, the sudden occurrence of the fire at the PNB Bank in March has raised significant questions.
