On Thursday morning, a massive fire broke out at the State Bank of India branch located in Rithani village on Delhi Road, in the Partapur police station area of Meerut. The incident occurred at around 9 am, and as soon as the fire started, a siren began ringing in the bank, alerting people in the vicinity. Witnesses noticed the sound of the siren and observed smoke billowing out of the bank, prompting them to call the fire brigade to report the fire.

Firefighters Rush to the Scene
Upon receiving the information, six fire brigade vehicles from the nearby fire station in Partapur swiftly arrived at the bank. Upon arrival, the firefighters were met with a fierce blaze. To combat the fire, they resorted to breaking the wall of the bank’s basement and entering the premises while wearing oxygen masks. The situation is being closely monitored, and efforts to extinguish the fire are ongoing.

Potential Losses and Investigation
The bank manager, who was informed about the incident, promptly arrived at the scene. According to the manager, the fire originated in the basement, where cash is typically stored. As a result, the fire brigade personnel took the necessary steps to access the basement and are currently working to control the fire. It is still unclear what caused the fire, which appears to be severe enough that additional fire brigade vehicles have been dispatched from the station in Meerut.
Ensuring Public Safety
Given the large number of people gathered near the bank, the fire brigade officials requested assistance from the Partapur police station. Their primary concern was to ensure the safety of the public, so they requested that the police help evacuate the area surrounding the bank. The situation is being closely monitored, and efforts to control the fire continue.
