The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, chaired by Yashwant Kumar Mishra, has ordered the branch manager of Bank of Baroda, Purab Gaon, to pay the complainant ₹32,346 along with an interest rate of 9%. Additionally, the commission has directed the payment of ₹25,000 for mental compensation and litigation expenses within 45 days, also with an interest rate of 9%.

Anita Singh, a resident of Gaura Daad in Sadar Tehsil, stated that her husband’s elder brother, Arun Kumar Singh, had taken out an insurance policy worth ₹1 lakh under LIC’s Money Plan Scheme. Over three years, ₹32,000 was deposited into the scheme. On September 22, 2010, LIC issued a maturity check for ₹32,346.

The complainant, Arun Kumar, deposited the check into his savings account at Bank of Baroda, Purab Gaon branch, but the amount was not credited to his account. As a result, Arun filed a complaint with the commission. After hearing arguments from both sides, the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, chaired by Yashwant Kumar Mishra and member Mamta Gupta, ordered the branch manager to pay the principal amount, along with ₹25,000 for mental compensation and litigation expenses, at an annual interest rate of 9% within 45 days.
