The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended two officials from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office in Lucknow—an Enforcement Officer and a Head Constable—in connection with a bribery case involving Rs 5,00,000, according to a CBI Press Release
Background and Complaint
The case was formally registered by the CBI on October 23, 2026, following a complaint against the accused Head Constable and unknown ED officials. The complainant alleged that the Head Constable had demanded a bribe on behalf of the Enforcement Officer from the complainant’s father. The demand was made in exchange for favoring him in an ongoing ED case, for which the father had received two summonses in August and September 2026 from the ED’s Lucknow Zone office.
Trap and Apprehension
Acting swiftly on the grievance, the CBI laid a trap on October 23, 2026. The Head Constable was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting the Rs 5,00,000 bribe on behalf of the Enforcement Officer. Both individuals were subsequently taken into custody, and further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
