Canara Bank Appoints Ms. Shalini Pandit as Government Nominee Director
Canara Bank has announced the appointment of Ms. Shalini Pandit as Government Nominee Director on the Board of the bank with immediate effect. The appointment was made by the Central Government under the Banking Companies (Acquisition and Transfer of Undertakings) Act, 1970.
According to the official notification dated 13 May 2026, Ms. Shalini Pandit has been appointed in place of Shri Parshant Kumar Goyal. She will continue in the role until further orders from the Government.
Ms. Shalini Pandit is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Odisha cadre and is currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Department of Financial Services under the Ministry of Finance, Government of India.
Before joining the Government of India, she held several important positions in the Odisha Government. She served as Secretary in departments such as School & Mass Education, Health & Family Welfare, Mission Shakti, and Odia Language, Literature & Culture. She also worked as Mission Director of the National Health Mission, Labour Commissioner of Odisha, and District Collector in several districts.
The bank said that her work in improving the education sector and her leadership during the Covid-19 pandemic in the health sector were widely appreciated.
Ms. Shalini Pandit completed her graduation in Botany from Miranda House College, University of Delhi. She also completed her M.Sc. in Wildlife Science from the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun.
Canara Bank also clarified that Ms. Shalini Pandit is not related to any Director of the bank and is not debarred by SEBI or any other regulatory authority from holding the office of Director.
The bank further informed that Shri Parshant Kumar Goyal has ceased to be Government Nominee Director of the bank from 13 May 2026.
