Breaking! CBI raids 17 locations in Mumbai linked to Anil Ambani and Reliance Group

Today, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has raided 17 locations in Mumbai linked to the three cases registered against Anil Ambani-led Reliance ADA Group companies — Reliance Telecom Ltd, Reliance Commercial Finance Ltd, and Reliance Home Finance Ltd, and their Directors.

Searches were conducted at the residential premises of Directors of the Reliance ADA Group companies as well as at the office premises of intermediary companies whose accounts were used for the diversion of bank funds.

The search warrants were issued on 8 May 2026 by the Special Judge for CBI cases in Mumbai. Searches have provided an important update regarding the case. Searches have revealed that multiple intermediary companies were operating from the same address.

The CBI had earlier conducted searches at 14 locations over the last few months. It seems Anil Ambani’s troubles are far from over. Almost every day, some new development related to Anil Ambani comes to light.

The CBI has registered seven cases against the Anil Ambani-led Reliance Group in the last few months, based on complaints lodged by various public sector banks and LIC. As per complaints, Anil Ambani is involved in big financial frauds amounting to Rs. 27,337 crores.

Two senior executives of RCom — D Vishwanath, Joint President of Reliance Communications, who was overall in charge of banking operations of the Group, and Anil Kalya, Vice President, who had actively supported D. Vishwanath in managing banking operations and payments/utilisation of funds, were arrested on 20 April 2026. Both are currently in judicial custody.

On 8 May, the Supreme Court said that it will not order the arrest of industrialist Anil Ambani in the bank fraud case linked to Reliance Communications (RCOM) and its group companies.

A Bench led by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi said arrests cannot be ordered just to sensationalise a case. The court said an arrest should happen only if the investigating agencies believe it is necessary. Click here to read this news in detail.
