On Saturday, the Chief Judicial Magistrate Kumar Avinash of Civil Court Sheikhpura sentenced one person to two and a half years of imprisonment and a fine of 10,000 rupees for allegedly performing duty as a security guard with illegal weapons in the Bandhan Bank in Sheikhpura. The alleged supplier of the weapons, Sitaram Saw, was acquitted due to lack of evidence. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Upendra Chaudhary, Rohit Kumar, son of Anoop Lal, a resident of Hasan Ganj under Kasim Bazar police station in Munger district, was working as a guard in the Bandhan Bank in the district.

Based on the information, the police recovered a .32 revolver and two live cartridges from him on April 4, 2022. In this regard, Police Officer Hriday Narayan Pandey registered a preliminary report at the Nagar police station and asked for information about the weapon and cartridges. He mentioned that these weapons were provided to him by Sitaram Saw from Munger.

Sitaram Saw has also provided similar weapons to four other individuals who are working as guards in various government and private institutions in districts other than Sheikhpura, such as Lakhisarai and Begusarai. After the arrest, the police completed the investigation and submitted the charge sheet in court.

After the arrest, bail was obtained from the Patna High Court. The defense presented the testimony of seven witnesses in support of the accused. After hearing all sides, the court sentenced the accused Rohit Kumar to two and a half years of imprisonment under sections 25(1b) a and 26 of the Arms Act, along with a fine of ten thousand rupees. However, the court ordered both sentences to run concurrently.
