In a significant development, arrest warrants have been issued for the Branch Manager of Andhra Bank, Unnao, for failing to comply with an order passed by the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission.

The Commission has set a deadline of December 16th to resolve the complaint and hear the Branch Manager’s side of the story. The case stems from a complaint filed by a firm operated by Rannodevi, a resident of Adarshnagar Mohalla in Bhogaon, and Mithilesh Kumari, a resident of Jagatnagar Mohalla.

The firm’s bank account is maintained at Bank of India, GT Road Bhogaon. In 2015, the firm’s manager issued a cheque for Rs.150. However, an unauthorized withdrawal of Rs. 42,500 was made from this cheque in the name of Satyaprakash.

Upon inquiring at the bank, the firm’s operator was directed to contact Bank of India, Birhana Road Kanpur. The Birhana Road branch manager, in turn, sought information from Andhra Bank, Unnao.

Disappointed by the lack of response from the bank, the firm’s operators filed a complaint with the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission on May 22, 2015. After a thorough hearing, the Commission’s then Chairman, Shripal, along with members Vimaladevi and Rajesh Kumar, issued an order on August 28, 2018, directing the resolution of the complaint.

The bank management challenged this order by filing an appeal in the State Commission. However, the State Commission also upheld the order to resolve the complaint.

As the complaint remained unresolved, the aggrieved parties filed an application in the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission seeking compliance with the order.

Following a hearing, the Commission, headed by Chairman Shashibhushan Pandey and members Nitikadas and Nandkumar, issued arrest warrants for the Branch Manager of Andhra Bank, Unnao.

The Commission has also set a date of December 16th to resolve the complaint and hear the Branch Manager’s explanation.
