During an astonishing anti-corruption raid on a 36-year-old Madhya Pradesh government officer, a treasure trove of assets worth crores of rupees was unveiled. Hema Meena, a contractual in-charge assistant engineer with the Madhya Pradesh Police Housing Corporation, was found to possess an extravagant collection of wealth, surpassing her modest monthly income of ₹30,000.

The raid conducted by the anti-corruption watchdog revealed an array of remarkable assets. Among them were 5-7 luxury cars, a vast expanse of 20,000 square feet of land, prized Gir breed cattle numbering two dozen, and an opulent 98-inch TV worth ₹30 lakh. The staggering extent of these possessions sheds light on Meena’s extraordinary accumulation of wealth within a relatively short span of employment, having served for just seven years.

The search at her residential premises exposed even more eye-popping items, including a hundred dogs, a complete wireless communication system, and mobile jammers, adding to the aura of opulence surrounding Meena’s lifestyle.

The anti-corruption team from the Lokayukta Special Police Establishment executed the operation skillfully, entering Meena’s upscale bungalow under the guise of repairing solar panels. Within a single day, the team uncovered assets worth approximately ₹7 crore, an astronomical 232 percent more than her known sources of income.

Further investigation revealed that Meena initially acquired 20,000 square feet of agricultural land in her father’s name and subsequently constructed a lavish house valued at around ₹1 crore. Additionally, it was discovered that she owned land in Raisen and Vidisha districts. Preliminary findings also indicated that materials designated for projects of the Madhya Pradesh Police Housing Corporation were misappropriated by Meena for the construction of her personal residence. Seizures included heavy agricultural machinery such as harvesters.

The discoveries continued to amaze with the revelation of a high-end 98-inch TV worth ₹30 lakh within Meena’s home. Superintendent of Police, Lokayukta, Bhopal, Manu Vyas, informed NDTV that the search operation spanned three locations, with Meena’s residence in Bilkhiriya being one of them.

Initial estimates suggest that Meena’s amassed assets could be valued between ₹5 to 7 crore, with the likelihood of more revelations as the investigation progresses. Determining the actual worth of the seized items may require the assistance of other departments. Vyas confirmed that a case has been registered against Meena, signaling the start of legal proceedings in response to the discovered irregularities.
