Aircraft crashes during training session in Maharashtra’s Pune, pilot and trainee injured

During a training session near Gojubavi village in Pune district on Sunday, an aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing. According to an official from the Pune rural office department, the incident resulted in injuries to both occupants of the aircraft, which included a trainee pilot and an instructor. They were promptly transported to a hospital.

The aircraft’s emergency landing occurred at approximately 8 am, as confirmed by officials.

In an official statement issued hours after the incident, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) reported, “The Red Bird Academy Tecnam aircraft VT-RBT executed an emergency landing near Baramati airfield, with both the instructor and trainee pilot unharmed. Further investigations are currently in progress.”

Prabhakar More, the senior inspector at Baramati police station, noted that the exact cause of the crash remains unknown, and an inquiry into the incident is underway.

Notably, this marks the second such incident involving aircraft from the private aviation academy within a span of four days. In a similar occurrence, another training aircraft, piloted by a single occupant, crashed on a Thursday. This aircraft was also part of a training session conducted by Redbird Flight Training Academy and crashed near Katfal village under Baramati taluka. The pilot sustained injuries and was subsequently transported to a hospital for medical attention.
