Salila Pande, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of SBI Card, said customers are increasingly looking for greater value and convenience in their travel experiences. She explained that SBI Card is focused on developing credit card products that match customers’ changing spending habits and lifestyle preferences. The partnership is expected to help the company offer a travel-focused credit card with rewarding experiences and more choices for customers.

Suresh Sethi, Group Country Manager for India and South Asia at Visa, said the partnership reflects a shared goal of improving payment experiences by adding more value to customers’ transactions. He noted that Visa would contribute its global payments network, technology capabilities and experience in developing co-branded credit card programmes to support the initiative.

Meanwhile, Air India’s Maharaja Club loyalty programme has expanded significantly since its redesign in 2024. With a simplified structure, customer-friendly features, renamed membership tiers and an updated identity, the programme has added more than five million new members since the changes were introduced.

Maharaja Club members can earn and redeem Maharaja Points on flights operated by Air India and Air India Express across 104 destinations in North America, Europe, including the United Kingdom, Australia, the Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia and South Asia. Members can also use the programme across 25 other Star Alliance member airlines.

The new co-branded credit card programme is expected to strengthen the connection between Air India’s loyalty programme and customers’ everyday spending. However, the companies have not yet announced the card’s launch date, joining fees, annual charges, reward rates or detailed benefits. Further information about the card is expected to clarify how customers will earn and redeem rewards under the new partnership.
