Balrampur, Uttar Pradesh: Account holders of Indian Bank’s Ramnagar Shivpura branch in Haraiya Satgharwa block staged a protest against the bank management, accusing the branch manager of demanding money for official banking services, behaving improperly with customers and assigning bank-related work to an unauthorised private individual.
Several account holders, including Sajan, Mubarak Hussain, Rajesh Kumar Yadav, Rakesh Kumar, Raj Kumar, Salman, Dhanne, Sitaram, Sahajram and Koyla, raised concerns over the functioning of the branch. They alleged that customers do not receive satisfactory responses from bank employees when they visit the branch for routine services, including KYC updates. They also accused the branch manager of behaving rudely and indecently with customers.
One of the customers, Rajesh Kumar, alleged that he visited the branch on November 3 to obtain a no-dues certificate. According to him, Branch Manager Dinesh Patel demanded Rs 1,500 for issuing the certificate and asked him to coordinate with a private individual for the work. Rajesh Kumar further claimed that he has an audio recording of his conversation with the branch manager to support his allegations.
However, Branch Manager Dinesh Patel rejected the allegations and termed them baseless.
Taking note of the complaints, R.K. Bhatia, Assistant General Manager (AGM) of Indian Bank, said that the matter would be investigated. He also assured that appropriate legal action would be taken if the allegations were found to be true.
