Video: SBI Bank Employees beaten by Customers inside branch due to Loan Dispute

In a shocking incident at a State Bank of India branch in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, three youths from Mungeli district stormed in and physically assaulted the manager and assistant manager. The incident unfolded when Labham Ram Tond (24), Vikas Bhardwaj (23), and Benish Bhardwaj (25) visited the SBI branch in Sadar Bazar. One of the youths had taken a loan against his land for a tractor but had defaulted on installments, prompting the bank to issue a notice. Seeking to resolve the issue by selling the mortgaged land, the youths demanded related documents from the bank.

However, tensions escalated when the manager clarified that selling the land to settle the loan was not permissible under bank regulations. This disagreement quickly spiraled into a physical altercation where the youths allegedly assaulted manager Ankit Bhushan Lal and assistant manager Prem Kumar Jaiswal, repeatedly slapping them. The violent episode disrupted bank operations and left employees in a state of shock and fear.

Following the assault, both the manager and assistant manager filed a complaint at Takhatpur police station. Prompt police action led to the arrest of the three youths after questioning. Currently, the police are conducting a thorough investigation into the entire incident to ascertain all facts and ensure justice is served.

  1. Bank has a lien in the revenue record the land. In this case the Branch Manager could have advised the borrower to enter into an Agreement to sell with some advance money and deposit that money towards liquidation of loan. If the loan is still not fully repaid balance can be recovered at the time of registration of sale deed and charge on land can be released at the same time. This is a win win position for both and Bank’s wouldn’t get defamed.

    बैंक में कृषि ऋण के अंतर्गत ट्रेक्टर ऋण में सिर्फ खसरा खतौनी की प्रति लगाई जाती है कोई रजिस्ट्री जमा नहीं रखी जाती ।
    सिर्फ बैंक का बंधक दर्ज किया जाता है खसरे पर ।
    उपरोक्त लोग बिना ऋण जमा किए बंधक कटवाने हेतु अभद्रता कर रहे थे ।

  3. India development is identified as loans from banks. Everybody wants a loan for betterment of his financial status. The political situation supports this model of loans for everybody on demand. Most of the banks are busy in disbursement of government sponsored loans.The banker is not protected front belligerent customers and loan seekers.

  4. Bank Managers should keep weapons inside the branch in their cabin for their protection against hostile customers

  5. In this matter the Branch Manager may give photocopies of the documents to the true owner of the land, after obtaining duly acknowledgement. But original documents can only be released on liquidation of the loan account. If BM or officer concerned give the original documents before complete repayment of loan, in that case they would be accountable.
