UCO Bank Clerk Job Fraud: Employee Used Proxy Candidate in IBPS Exam, Dismissed from Job

A case of fraud has come to light at a UCO Bank branch in Chakai, Jamui district. A clerk named Amit Kumar is accused of getting the job by cheating. It is alleged that he sent another person to appear in the exam on his behalf.

This case is related to the clerk recruitment exam conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS). According to the investigation, Amit Kumar got selected as a clerk in UCO Bank through this exam.

Reports say that IBPS started re-checking biometric data after receiving complaints about irregular appointments during the COVID-19 period. When Amit Kumar was called for verification, he did not appear. After that, he also stopped coming to the bank.

The investigation found that the biometric data recorded during the application and exam did not match his actual biometric details.

Based on the IBPS report, the bank dismissed Amit Kumar from service on 7 February 2026.

In this case, the branch manager Avirag filed a written complaint at the local police station on Monday. After this, the police registered an FIR against Amit Kumar, who is a resident of Gaurichak, Patna, and his unknown accomplices.

Station House Officer (SHO) Sarvajeet Kumar said that an FIR has been registered due to the seriousness of the case, and an investigation is underway. The police are now conducting a detailed probe into the matter.
