Dinesh Khara, the Chairman of the State Bank of India (SBI), the largest government bank in India, received a salary of Rs 37 lakh during the fiscal year 2022-2023, as stated in the bank’s annual report. This represented a notable increase of 7.5 percent compared to the previous year.

Dinesh Khara pursued his postgraduate degree in Commerce at the esteemed Delhi School of Economics, followed by an MBA from the Faculty of Management Studies, affiliated with Delhi University (DU).

Dinesh Khara Banking Career

Starting his career in 1984, Dinesh Khara joined the bank as a probationary officer and eventually assumed the role of Chairman in October 2020. Prior to this position, he held various key roles within the bank, including Managing Director overseeing global banking and SBI subsidiaries, among others.

Dinesh Khara Salary

Dinesh Khara’s salary comprised a basic pay of Rs 27 lakh and a dearness allowance of Rs 9.99 lakh. In 2022, his annual salary amounted to Rs 34.42 lakh, marking a significant 13.4 percent increase compared to his predecessor, Rajnish Kumar, during the FY21. While Dinesh Khara earned an annual salary of Rs 37 lakh, it is noteworthy that HDFC Bank’s MD and CEO, Sashidhar Jagdishan, received a total compensation of approximately Rs 6.51 crore.
