Recovery Agent Shot Dead Inside Indian Bank Branch in Bihar’s Aurangabad

Aurangabad, Bihar: A recovery agent was shot dead inside an Indian Bank branch in Aurangabad on Friday. The incident happened after the firearm of a security guard went off under unclear circumstances. The guard said the gun fired accidentally while he was cleaning it, but the victim’s family claimed that the shooting was intentional. Police have taken the guard into custody and started an investigation.

The incident took place around 10:30 am at the Uchauli branch of Indian Bank under the Madanpur police station area in Aurangabad district.

The deceased was identified as Rajendra Paswan, a recovery agent and resident of Madhav Khap village. He suffered critical injuries after being hit by a bullet allegedly fired from the double-barrel gun of security guard Abhay Kumar Singh. He was taken to a government hospital in Madanpur, where doctors declared him dead.

The deceased has been identified as Rajendra Paswan, a resident of Madhav Khap village under the Madanpur police station area. According to reports, after the bank opened on Friday morning, security guard Abhay Kumar Singh was cleaning his double-barreled gun when it accidentally misfired. The bullet hit Rajendra Paswan in the stomach inside the bank premises.

Assistant Manager Shyam Bihari Prasad and other bank employees immediately rushed him to the Community Health Center in Madanpur for treatment, believing he was still alive. However, after examination, the medical officer on duty, Dr. Sanjay Kumar, declared him dead.

Family members of the deceased accused the security guard of deliberately opening fire. However, the guard claimed that the weapon discharged accidentally while he was cleaning it.

Bank manager Sanjeet Kumar Nirala said that as soon as the security guard picked up his gun after drinking water, a bullet suddenly fired, striking a recovery agent standing nearby. Initially, the cause of the incident is believed to be a misfire. Police are currently investigating.

Madanpur SHO Rajesh Kumar said police have seized the firearm and taken the guard into custody. He said an FIR is being registered based on the complaint filed by the victim’s family. Police are now investigating whether the firing was accidental or intentional.
