Review committees of the Railway Ministry have recommended premature retirement of five Group A officers for non-performance and alleged involvement in corruption cases.
In Indian Railways, Group A officers are the senior gazetted officers recruited into the various organized railway services. They generally handle administration, engineering, operations, finance, personnel, safety, and other management functions.
“The review committees have recommended premature retirement of two senior administrative grade officers of Indian Railway Health Service, one junior administrative grade officer of Indian Railway Service of Engineers, one officer of Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers from Northern Railway Zone, and one JAG officer of Indian Railway Traffic Service from Western Railway,” said a Railway Ministry statement issued on Saturday.
“The recommendations are in the public interest under various provisions of the Indian Railway Establishment Code,” it added.
The Review Committees carried out a detailed assessment of the officers’ service records in accordance with the prescribed procedure. The review included examination of Annual Performance Appraisal Reports (APARs), integrity records, vigilance inputs, disciplinary history and other relevant service records before arriving at their recommendations. The committees unanimously recommended premature retirement of the officers in public interest in the respective cases.
