On Friday night, a tragic incident unfolded on the Bada Bypass in Bareilly’s Bhojipura area, where the branch manager of a bank lost his life in a car accident. The incident occurred as he was returning from duty in Ramapur on the Nainital Highway-connected Bada Bypass.

The victim, identified as Hemant Kumar Rana, a 32-year-old resident of the Defense Colony in Izzatnagar, was the branch manager of the Behata branch of Punjab and Sind Bank in Ramapur district. After completing his duty, Hemant was on his way back to Bareilly when the unfortunate accident occurred.

As per reports, a truck loaded with wheat was heading towards Lucknow from Bilwa on the Bada Bypass around 8:30 PM. Hemant, driving his car towards Bareilly, was descending from the Bilwa Bridge on the highway. Suddenly, a motorcycle appeared in front of the truck, leading the driver to swerve to avoid a collision. In the attempt to save the motorcycle, the truck lost control and collided with Hemant’s car, causing it to overturn.

Tragically, Hemant’s car got trapped beneath the truck, leading to his immediate demise. The impact of the accident resulted in a significant traffic jam on both sides of the Bada Bypass. Inspector Jagat Singh from Bhojipura, with the help of a crane, managed to extract Hemant’s body from the wreckage after a two-hour effort.

Despite being rushed to a local medical college by his father, Shyam Singh, Hemant was declared dead by the doctors. The news of the incident spread quickly, with relatives and locals gathering outside the victim’s residence to express condolences.

Hemant’s family, originally from Sitarganj in Uttarakhand, had been residing in Izzatnagar for several years. Shyam Singh, Hemant’s father, works at the Diesel Shed in the local railway station. The family consists of Hemant’s mother, Rakesh Devi, elder brother Avdhesh Rana, and sister Meenu. Both Avdhesh and Meenu are married, while Hemant remained unmarried.

The accident led to a prolonged traffic jam on the Bada Bypass, affecting hundreds of vehicles traveling between Delhi and Lucknow. Authorities, including the City ADM, SDM Sadr, and Highway CEO, were called to the scene. The police from Bhojipura, CB Ganj, Izzatnagar, and Bithri Thanas were also present. The vehicles involved in the accident were towed away, and normal traffic flow was eventually restored after necessary investigations were conducted. The Highway CEO, Nitin Kumar, confirmed that both vehicles had been taken into custody, and a detailed report would be filed accordingly.
