
In Gujarat, the police is strictly issuing challans to government employees who are not wearing Helmet while riding. This special drive to enforce the helmet rule among government employees has had a significant impact. Relaunched on Tuesday, the campaign has resulted in widespread compliance across the state.
According to an official statement on Wednesday, 98.96% of government employees followed the rule by wearing helmets while commuting. The state government reported that on the first day of the drive, only 4,876 employees were found without helmets and were fined accordingly.
The statement highlighted that Gujarat has over 4.7 lakh government employees, most of whom have shown self-discipline by adhering to the safety mandate. “Their commitment sets an excellent example of awareness regarding traffic rules,” it said.
Gujarat Director General of Police (DGP) Vikas Sahay lauded government employees for their awareness and discipline in following traffic rules. “The way employees have embraced traffic safety is inspiring for the general public. Their participation across all departments is a matter of pride for the state,” he stated. He urged everyone to remain committed to making Gujarat a leader in traffic safety.
Ahmedabad police carried out strict enforcement of the rule outside government offices, including courts, on Tuesday. As part of the drive, 647 government employees, including 72 police personnel, were fined for not wearing helmets.
Three days before the campaign, DGP Vikas Sahay had appealed to government employees to follow traffic rules, emphasizing that they serve as role models for society. He stated that their adherence to the law would encourage ordinary citizens to be more responsible on the roads.
The state government has reiterated its commitment to ensuring road safety and urged all citizens to follow traffic regulations diligently.
