The Cyber Police have busted a gang involved in cyber fraud, arresting four individuals, including three bank managers. The accused managers facilitated cyber criminals in accessing bank accounts. The police spokesperson revealed that on November 18, 2023, a person filed a complaint at Mansar Cyber Police Station, stating that they were duped by a caller claiming their son had an accident, leading to a hospitalization. The victim transferred ₹10,000 to save their son, only to discover it was a scam. Following an investigation, the police arrested four suspects – Hayat from Mewat, Mohit Rathí from Gurugram, Mahesh Kumar from Bilaspur, and Mahu from Uttar Pradesh.

According to ASP Cyber Crime Priyanshu Deewan, Mohit Rathí worked as an assistant manager at Kotak Mahindra Bank, while Mahesh Kumar and Vishwakarma Maurya were deputy managers. Hayat from Mewat was the cyber mastermind who contacted Mahesh Kumar, initiating the collaboration. The trio facilitated cyber fraud by providing bank accounts, collecting ₹15,000 to ₹20,000 to reveal details of a single account. Approximately 18 bank accounts were initially identified in cyber fraud.

The accused targeted vulnerable employees in Bilaspur, manipulating them to obtain their documents, opening bank accounts in their names, and handing over the account details to the cyber fraudsters. Police are currently questioning the suspects and investigating the 2,000 bank accounts opened during their tenure. The inquiry aims to determine the extent of cyber fraud victims, the amount collected, and identify any additional accomplices.
