NO Loan Waiver For Farmers: Check State-wise Outstanding Agricultural Loans in Public Sector Banks
The Central Government has clarified that it is not considering any proposal for a one-time waiver of agricultural loans for small and marginal farmers. The information was provided by the Ministry of Finance in a written reply to an Unstarred Question in the Lok Sabha on July 27, 2026.
According to the data, Tamil Nadu has the highest outstanding agricultural loans in Public Sector Banks at ₹3,44,996.64 crore. It is followed by Andhra Pradesh (₹2,69,415.73 crore), Uttar Pradesh (₹1,38,907.63 crore), Karnataka (₹1,35,159.62 crore) and Maharashtra (₹1,33,362.96 crore). The figures are provisional and have been reported by banks through the ENSURE Portal of NABARD.

The Ministry also shared the outstanding agricultural loan amount in Public Sector Banks as on 31 March 2026, based on provisional data submitted by banks on the ENSURE Portal of NABARD.
