Maharashtra has declared public holiday on 22 January for Ayodhya Ram Temple Inauguration
The Maharashtra government has declared a public holiday on January 22 to mark the inauguration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
Idol Placement Ceremony: The idol of Lord Ram Lalla, sculpted by Arun Yogiraj from Karnataka, was placed inside the temple’s sanctum sanctorum on Thursday. The first photo of the idol, covered with a veil, was revealed during the ceremony.
Idol Details: Arun Yogiraj carved the 51-inch tall, 1.5-tonne idol portraying Lord Ram as a five-year-old standing on a lotus made from the same stone.
Pran Pratishtha Ceremony: Scheduled for January 22 in Ayodhya, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will perform rituals, and a team of priests led by Lakshmikant Dixit will oversee the main rituals. Several celebrities and noted personalities have been invited to the ceremony.
Holiday Declarations: Various states, government offices, and banks are granting holidays for the upcoming festivities. On January 22, states like Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Odisha, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Tripura, Assam, and Rajasthan will observe either full or half-day closures for government offices and schools. PSU banks and courts, as per the Department of Personnel and Training order, will have a half-day holiday. Private sector banks and offices are awaiting official notices, urging employees to check with their HR departments for updates.
