The 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) has been suspended indefinitely by the BCCI, according to several news reports. This decision comes after rising military tensions between India and Pakistan.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has suspended the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season for one week due to escalating military tensions between India and Pakistan. This decision follows the abandonment of the match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamshala, which was disrupted by a power outage amid regional unrest. The BCCI stated that the suspension is effective immediately, and further updates regarding the tournament’s schedule and venues will be announced after assessing the situation in consultation with relevant authorities and stakeholders.
The suspension has raised concerns among foreign players, many of whom are arranging to return to their home countries. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has expressed willingness to host the remaining matches of the IPL in September, although no formal discussions have commenced.
The ongoing conflict has also impacted the Pakistan Super League (PSL), which has relocated its fixtures to the United Arab Emirates due to similar security concerns.
The BCCI emphasized that the safety of players, staff, and fans is of utmost importance and will continue to monitor the situation closely before making further decisions regarding the IPL 2025 season.
