Indian Overseas Bank has also introduced New Transfer Policy for Officers bearers of trade unions and associations.

  • Transfer Protection: Office Bearers of the Central Unit of recognized unions will not be subject to routine transfers for up to six years. After this period, they will be treated like other officers in their grade.
  • Applicability: The protection applies only to key office bearers, including the General Secretary, Joint General Secretary, President, Vice-President, and Treasurer, with a maximum of five individuals per association. This protection begins from the date of assuming office and must be reported to the bank within 30 days.
  • Exemptions: Transfer protection will not apply in cases where an office bearer requests a transfer, faces disciplinary action, is affected by branch closures or mergers, or receives a promotion.
  • Proximity Transfers: Office bearers may still be transferred within the same city or nearby locations if necessary for operational reasons, ensuring minimal disruption to union activities.
  • Restrictions on Posting: Office bearers will not be posted in any of the bank’s administrative offices.
