IIBF launches Micro Research papers Competition 2025-2026

IIBF has launched the Micro Research Papers Competition for 2025-2026. Micro Research is an essay competition for members of the Institute (bankers) to present their original ideas, thoughts and best practices on topics of their interest. This initiative began in 2004-05. Since then, the Institute has been inviting Micro Research papers every year on subjects selected by its Research Advisory Committee.
The competition is open to life members of IIBF who are currently working in banks and financial institutions. The Institute invites Micro Research papers for the year 2025-26 on the following topics (see important clause on copyrights below):
- Role of specialised banks in the “Vikshit Bharat” Mission
- Supply chain disruptions: Challenges and opportunities for trade financing
- Role of Artificial Intelligence in credit analysis and underwriting
- Expected Credit Loss Framework – Implications on profitability and viability of Indian banks
- Open Banking: The next frontier in financial innovation
- Cross-border payment systems: Towards global financial integration
The essays or papers will be evaluated based on content, relevance and originality. Authors of selected papers will receive a citation and a cash prize ranging from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 15,000, depending on the merit of the paper. Copyright of the selected papers will remain with IIBF.
Interested members may submit a soft copy of their Micro Research paper in English, with a word limit of 5,000 to 6,000 words or 10 to 12 A4-sized pages (Times New Roman, font size 12), in MS Word format only. Papers must be emailed to dd.aca3@iibf.org.in.
The last date for submission is 28th February 2026.
Applicants must include the following details on the front page of their papers:
- Name
- Membership Number
- Topic
- Designation and Employer
- Correspondence Address
- Mobile Number or Landline Number
- Email ID
Applications without membership numbers or with incomplete details will not be considered.
