As the assembly polls in Haryana approach later this year, the demand for the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) is once again gaining traction in the state. The Pension Bahali Sangarsh Samiti, a body advocating for the restoration of the scheme, recently held a meeting in Kaithal where they resolved to organize a large rally in Panchkula on September 1. The rally aims to march and surround the Sant Kabir Kutir, the official residence of Haryana’s Chief Minister Nayab Saini in Chandigarh.
Series of Protests Planned by the Association
To further highlight their demand, the association has decided to hold an “OPS sankalp sammelen and akrosh march” in every district of the state, beginning on July 1. This series of protests and marches will serve as a platform to engage with employees of the state government and garner support for the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme.
Frustration Over Lack of Decision
Vijender Dhaliwal, the state president of the body, expressed frustration over the lack of progress in addressing their demand. Despite multiple requests, protests, and meetings with a government-appointed panel, no decision has been made regarding the restoration of the scheme. Dhaliwal emphasized that the responsibility for any upcoming protests lies with the government, as they have not yet taken action on the demand.
The association remains committed to advocating for the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme and will continue to mobilize support through various activities and protests in the coming months.
