Government Extends Term of Union Bank of India Executive Director Nitesh Ranjan by Three Years

The Government of India has approved the extension of Shri Nitesh Ranjan’s term as Executive Director of the Union Bank of India.
According to a notification issued by the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, on September 15, 2025, his tenure has been extended for three more years beyond his current term, which was scheduled to end on March 9, 2026. The extension will remain valid until further orders or the completion of the three years, whichever comes earlier.
Shri Nitesh Ranjan has been serving as Executive Director of the Union Bank since March 2021.

Shri Nitesh Ranjan has been serving as the Executive Director of Union Bank of India since March 10, 2021. He is playing a key role in driving the bank’s digital transformation and leading important changes in balance sheet management, customer experience, and employee development.
He joined Union Bank of India in 2008 and has worked in several senior roles, including Head of Treasury Operations & Strategy, Chief Investor Relations Officer, Chief Economist, and Regional Head. Before joining Union Bank, he began his career with the Food Corporation of India as a management trainee and later worked with Andhra Bank.
Currently, Shri Ranjan is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), SUD Life Insurance Company Ltd, and UBI Services Ltd. He is also a member of the IBA Steering Committee on Public Sector Bank Reforms. In the past, he has served on the boards of SBI Global Factors Ltd and FIMMDA (Fixed Income Money Market and Derivatives Association of India). He was also one of the founding members of the India Forex Committee (IFXC).
Academically, Shri Ranjan holds a postgraduate degree in Economics. He has also completed the Leadership Development Programme at IIM Bangalore, curated by the Banks Board Bureau in consultation with IBA and Egon Zehnder International Pvt. Ltd. Apart from his professional responsibilities, he has contributed to social causes by dedicating 100 days to teach underprivileged youth under the ‘Teach India’ initiative, where he trained them in spoken English.
