In Bareilly, a female fourth-class employee of the Municipal Corporation has leveled allegations of loan fraud against the branch manager and an associate of a bank. Suman, residing in Jatavpura under Premnagar police station, disclosed that she works at the Municipal Corporation and holds an account at the State Bank of India branch located in Civil Lines. About a year ago, she had discussed with Abhay, a local resident near City Sabzi Mandi, regarding a personal loan amounting to Rs 12 lakh. Subsequently, he obtained her signature on a plain stamp paper and a blank cheque.
On January 24, 2023, the bank transferred Rs 12 lakh into her account. However, on the same day, Rs 2 lakh was withdrawn from her account in collusion between Abhay and the bank. Upon approaching the bank to inquire about this transaction, Abhay allegedly threatened and intimidated her, forcing her to leave. It is alleged that the branch manager of the bank and Abhay collaborated to withdraw funds using fraudulent documents. Following directives from SSP Anurag Arya, the Kotwali police have registered a complaint against the branch manager and Abhay.
