The head constable, who is posted in Ayodhya and had recently been doing duty in Sultanpur, was on leave to celebrate Karva Chauth with her in-laws in Kanpur. On Saturday evening, she was walking after getting off a vehicle near Pali in the Narwal police station area, when Kallu, who lives in the same neighborhood, offered her a ride.

The incident took place at around 7:30 PM. As they traveled on a deserted road, Kallu suddenly diverted to a millet field on the side of the road and stopped the bike.
