In a horrifying incident in Kanpur, a female head constable was kidnapped and raped by a man who pretended to offer her a lift. The victim, a 29-year-old police officer, was on her way to her in-laws’ house after finishing her duty when the crime occurred. The man, identified as Kallu alias Dharmendra Paswan, aged 34, tricked her into sitting on his bike and then forcibly took her to a field where he assaulted her.
The head constable, who is posted in Ayodhya and had recently been doing duty in Sultanpur, was on leave to celebrate Karva Chauth with her in-laws in Kanpur. On Saturday evening, she was walking after getting off a vehicle near Pali in the Narwal police station area, when Kallu, who lives in the same neighborhood, offered her a ride.
The incident took place at around 7:30 PM. As they traveled on a deserted road, Kallu suddenly diverted to a millet field on the side of the road and stopped the bike. He then forced himself on her and raped her. When the police officer resisted and tried to defend herself, he beat her badly, breaking one of her teeth. In an attempt to protect herself, the constable bit the attacker’s finger. When she screamed for help, locals nearby heard her cries and rushed to the scene, forcing the attacker to flee.
The victim went to Sen Paschim Para Police Station the same night and reported the crime. The police quickly registered the case and launched a search to find the accused. ADCP South Manoj Kumar Pandey confirmed that the police acted swiftly and arrested Kallu, who was hiding after the incident. He was taken into custody, produced in court, and sent to jail.
The female officer is currently receiving medical treatment. The police have assured that they are fully investigating the matter to bring justice to the victim.
