ESIC SSO arrested accepting Bribe in Jammu
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Social Security Officer, O/o Regional Director, Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Jammu, while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.9,000 from the complainant.
Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) is one of the two main statutory social security bodies under the administrative control of Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, the other being the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation. It is a social security organization under the Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India. ESIC provides medical, financial, and social security benefits to employees and their families.
A complaint was filed with CBI on 17.11.2025. As per the complaint, the wife of the complainant was running a private firm, which became defunct and has not been doing any business since its inception. However, ESIC, Regional Office, Jammu has been harassing by issuing Notices u/s 45 for non-deposit of contribution to ESIC. When the complainant met the Social Security Officer, he demanded an illegal gratification of Rs.10,000 from the complainant to close the proceedings. After negotiation, the accused agreed to accept Rs.9,000.
CBI laid a trap on 17.11.2025, and apprehended the accused red-handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.9,000 from the complainant.
