In a historic achievement, Swati Rai Arthila, a final-year BBA student from Kukke Sri Subrahmanyeshwara College, has been elected as the youngest director of the Puttur Primary Co-operative Agriculture and Rural Development Bank Limited, representing the Kadaba region. Swati, a resident of Kadaba taluk, scripted history by securing the position unopposed, marking a significant milestone in the bank’s leadership.
A Chance Opportunity
Swati’s journey to this position was unexpected. The role was initially offered to her mother, Tara Rai, who declined due to personal reasons. It was then that Swati’s cousin, Ajith Rai, a local leader associated with a right-wing organization, encouraged her to take up the responsibility.
“Why should you let this opportunity pass? You are capable of taking it up,” Ajith reportedly told Swati, motivating her to step forward. With strong backing from her uncles and support from local political leaders, Swati decided to accept the challenge despite initial concerns about managing her studies alongside the role.
Balancing Studies and Responsibilities
Speaking about her new role, Swati said, “This is an opportunity to help farmers, and I am very happy to have been selected for this role. If I had not accepted it, I would have missed the chance to serve society. Now, I have to balance both my studies and this new responsibility.”
Swati, who recently appeared for her fifth-semester examinations, expressed her determination to fulfill the demands of her position while continuing her education. Her term as director will span five years.
A Historic Milestone
Swati’s election as one of the 14 directors of the cooperative bank highlights the growing participation of young individuals in leadership roles. Her achievement is seen as an inspiration for students and young professionals who aspire to contribute to rural and agricultural development.
Family and Background
Swati is the daughter of Tara Rai and the late Anand Rai, hailing from Arthila village in Kadaba taluk. Her family’s support played a crucial role in her decision to accept the position.
Swati’s leadership at such a young age marks a new chapter in the history of the cooperative bank, symbolizing a blend of youth and ambition with a commitment to community service.
most welcome and congratulations
