The United Forum of IDBI Officers & Employees (UFIOE) has announced a nationwide agitation programme, including a hunger strike, to oppose the proposed strategic sale of IDBI Bank. In a circular issued on 22 July 2026, the forum said that media reports indicate the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM), Ministry of Finance, has decided to complete the disinvestment process of IDBI Bank by the end of August 2026.

The United Forum has released a detailed schedule of protests and awareness programmes to be conducted across the country.
