CBI Arrests Central Bank of India Manager in Assam for Taking Bribe

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested the Branch Manager of the Central Bank of India’s Dhamdhama Branch in Nalbari district, Assam, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹5,000.
According to the CBI, the manager had asked the complainant for a bribe in exchange for increasing the limit of the complainant’s overdraft (OD) facility. The complaint was filed with the CBI on May 29, 2025.
Following the complaint, the CBI registered a case and set up a trap. The accused was caught red-handed while taking the ₹5,000 bribe from the complainant. After the successful trap operation, the manager was taken into custody.
The arrested bank official will be presented before the CBI Court in Guwahati on May 30, 2025. Officials confirmed that the investigation into the case is still ongoing.
