Police have released the photos of the criminals involved in the Canara Bank robbery in the Golmuri police station area of Jamshedpur. A reward of ₹2 lakh has been announced for each criminal, and the police have appealed to the public to share any information that could help in identifying the robbers.

More than 14 days have passed since the robbery, but the police have not yet made a major breakthrough in the case. The robbery took place on September 24 at the Canara Bank branch located on Golmuri Masjid Road, one of the busiest areas of the city. The armed criminals entered the bank in broad daylight, held employees and customers hostage, and escaped with ₹42 lakh in cash and gold worth approximately ₹33.20 crore.

According to the police, five criminals wearing raincoats entered the bank at around 9:10 AM, while another accomplice remained near the stairs to keep watch. The criminals forced their way inside at gunpoint and took the staff and customers hostage.

The robbers then forced the bank’s probationary officer (PO) and manager to hand over both locker keys. Using the keys, they opened the lockers and took away cash and gold deposited by customers as security for gold loans. The stolen gold weighed approximately 23.8 kg and was stored in 650 sealed packets. The robbers carried the stolen cash and gold in six bags.

During the robbery, bank security guard Santosh Kumar tried to resist the criminals. However, the robbers attacked him with the butt of a pistol and also kicked and punched him, leaving him injured. Meanwhile, the cleaner and tea server were held captive. The criminals taped their mouths shut and used the same tape to tie their hands.
The robbery continued for about an hour. At around 10:14 AM, the criminals escaped with the stolen cash and gold. Some of them fled on an Apache motorcycle, while others escaped on foot.
Following the incident, police launched a search operation across several states, including Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, to track down the accused. The release of the video and announcement of the reward are part of the ongoing efforts to identify and arrest the criminals. Police have urged anyone with information about the suspects or their whereabouts to come forward and help the investigation.
