Canara Bank denies leaves to staff for Raksha Bandhan festival
Canara Bank’s Regional Office in Kanpur has issued an order regarding leave restrictions for Branch Heads due to ongoing administrative and business requirements.
As per the order, no leave will be permitted to any Branch Head under the Kanpur Regional Office from 13 August to 31 August 2026, except in cases of medical emergencies. Branch Heads have been advised to remain present at their respective branches during this period to ensure smooth branch operations and effective monitoring of business and compliance activities.

Bankers say – First Banks post staff away from their homes and then Banks deny leaves to staff. How can a banker posted away from home celebrate festival with his/her family?
The bank has also instructed Branch Heads to obtain prior approval from the Regional Head before proceeding on any type of leave. The approval will be mandatory without exception.
The bank has also indirectly urged branch heads not to grant leave to any staff. The letter from AGM of the Bank states that if any staff member is on leave or is permitted to take leave by the Branch Head, no deputation or replacement staff will be provided for the period of such leave. Branch Heads will therefore have to manage branch operations with the available staff and resources.
The bank has instructed Branch Heads to make the necessary arrangements so that customer services and day-to-day branch operations are not affected under any circumstances.
