With the completion of the District Cooperative Bank (DCB) Almora elections, the elections have come to an end. The BJP has achieved a new milestone in the cooperative sector.
The BJP has won elections in all the 10 cooperative banks in the district and succeeded in forming its own board in all 10 banks in the state. This is the first time in the state that the president, vice president, and directors have been elected unopposed in all District Cooperative Banks.
There are six DCBs in the Garhwal division and four in the Kumaon division. Elections for nine of these were held earlier, while the Almora division elections concluded on Saturday. Mili Latwal was elected president and Bhavana Joshi vice president. Elections were also held for representatives to be sent to top cooperative organizations.
For the first time in the state, 33 percent reservation for women has been implemented in cooperative elections. Under this, women have won in three out of 10 DCBs.
Cooperative Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat congratulated the newly elected officials on the formation of BJP boards in all DCBs across the state, saying that the unopposed elections are a sign of mutual trust, coordination, and organizational unity.
He called upon all the officials to make the cooperative institutions transparent, accountable and effective and to ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach the last person.
