Bank of Baroda Q3FY25 Business Update

Bank of Baroda, a leading public sector bank in India, has reported significant growth in its deposits and advances for the quarter ending December 31, 2024. The updates were shared in its provisional quarterly business report filed with stock exchanges.

Domestic Deposits and Advances

The bank’s total domestic deposits stood at ₹11.66 lakh crore as of December 31, 2024, showing a year-on-year growth of 9.23% compared to ₹10.67 lakh crore in the same period last year. Domestic advances also grew by 11.76% to ₹9.63 lakh crore from ₹8.62 lakh crore a year ago.

Global Performance

Bank of Baroda’s total global deposits reached ₹13.92 lakh crore in the December quarter, up 11.8% from ₹12.45 lakh crore in the previous fiscal year. Global advances increased by 11.65%, reaching ₹11.71 lakh crore compared to ₹10.49 lakh crore a year earlier.

Retail Advances

Domestic retail advances saw significant growth, rising by 19.48% to ₹2.43 lakh crore as of December 31, 2024, compared to ₹2.03 lakh crore in the same period last year.

Financial Health Indicators

For the quarter ending September 2024, the bank posted a 23% year-on-year rise in net profit, reaching ₹5,238 crore. Improvements in asset quality were noted:

  • Gross NPA Ratio: Reduced to 2.5% in September 2024 from 2.88% in the previous quarter and 3.32% a year ago.
  • Net NPA Ratio: Declined to 0.60% from 0.69% a quarter ago and 0.76% a year earlier.

Net Interest Income and Margin

The net interest income grew by 7.3% year-on-year to ₹11,622 crore for the September quarter. The net interest margin (NIM) dipped slightly to 3.27% from 3.30% a quarter ago but remained higher than 3.19% recorded a year earlier.

Quarterly Business Updates

Bank of Baroda’s updates reflect strong operational performance and growth in key areas ahead of the financial results for the October-December period.

The bank continues to enhance its asset quality, retail advances, and global competitiveness, positioning itself as a key player in the banking sector.
