The Akhil Bhartiya Bank of Baroda Officers Sanghthan (ABBOBOS), a registered trade union representing officers of Bank of Baroda, has announced that it will hold a two-day peaceful Dharna (protest) outside the Regional Office of Bank of Baroda in Jodhpur on October 3 and 4, 2025.
The union has formally informed the zonal management about the protest and clarified that the demonstration will be conducted in a lawful and peaceful manner.
Reason of Protest
ABBOBOS has raised several serious concerns against the Regional Manager and Deputy Regional Manager of Jodhpur. The union listed the following reasons for the Dharna:
- Violation of Transfer Policy: The Regional Manager, Shri Vivek Singhal (DGM), has been accused of deliberately retaining certain officers in the same office even after the completion of their tenure. In some cases, transfers are shown only on paper by shifting SOL IDs, but the officers continue in the same office. The union called this a continuous and deliberate breach of the bank’s transfer policy.
- Threats and Misbehaviour: Union members have reportedly faced threats and misbehaviour from senior officials, creating a hostile and uncomfortable working environment.
- Disrespect of Core Values: The bank’s core value of “Respect”, which is supposed to guide employee relations, is being ignored in practice, the union alleged.
- Targeted Transfers of Union Leaders: ABBOBOS accused the management of targeting its office-bearers through unfair transfers, calling it victimisation and a violation of natural justice.
- No Action Despite Complaints: The union said that repeated complaints against the Regional Manager and Deputy Regional Manager have not led to any corrective action from higher authorities. According to the union, the misbehaviour and transfer policy violations continue unchecked.
- Favouritism in Postings: The union alleged that some officers are being given undue benefits by being kept in administrative offices for long periods, while other officers are denied such opportunities. This, according to the union, has damaged staff morale, reduced motivation, and is ultimately harmful for the bank’s business interests.
Protest Schedule
The Dharna will be held after working hours to ensure there is no disruption of banking services. The time and date of Dharna are as follows:
- October 3, 2025: From 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with participation of about 50 officers.
- October 4, 2025: From 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with participation of up to 150 officers.
- Location: Outside Regional Office, Bank of Baroda, 10 Pal Link Road, near Radha Krishna Temple, Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
Assurances of Peaceful Conduct
ABBOBOS has declared that the Dharna will be fully peaceful and lawful. The union stated:
- No bank property will be damaged.
- No posters or slogans will be used against the bank.
- No staff member or customer will face obstruction or harm.
- Law and order will be maintained at all times.
- The protest will take place only after working hours.
The union said the protest is being carried out under the rights guaranteed by:
- The Trade Union Act, 1926 (right to protest and demonstrate),
- The Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (protection against victimisation), and
- The Constitution of India (right to peaceful assembly under Article 19(1)(b)).
Union’s Appeal
The union has requested the zonal management to take the grievances seriously and address the issues immediately. It has also asked that no undue pressure or action be taken against the officers participating in the Dharna. ABBOBOS stressed that the protest should be seen in the right spirit and as an opportunity for management to resolve long-pending concerns before matters escalate further.
