All India Bank of Baroda Officers’ Union has filed a case in the Office of the Chief Labour Commissioner against Bank of Baroda management alleging unfairness in promotion exercise.
The date of hearing/joint discussion in the above case has been fixed on 8.08.2025 at 15.00 hrs. in the office of the undersigned at 1st floor, Shram Raksha Bhavan, Shivsrushti Road, Opp. Priyadarshini, Sion (East), Mumbai – 400 022.

Earlier also, Bank of Baroda Unions had written several letters to MD&CEO citing unfairness in promotion exercise.
A major concern raised was the lack of transparency in the declaration of marks for the written exam and interview. The delay in publishing these scores has created a sense of uncertainty and frustration among officers.
Each year, thousands of employees in Bank of Baroda appear for promotion exam. But such incidents shake the trust of employees in the Bank.
Employees have even made allegations that the promotion exercise in Bank of Baroda is not transparent and deserving candidates are not promoted.
Unfairness and a lack of transparency in internal promotion processes can have far-reaching consequences for any organization—especially a large public sector bank like Bank of Baroda, which employs thousands across the country. Over time, such issues erode employee trust, disrupt morale, and damage the institution’s image both internally and externally.
As a public sector bank, Bank of Baroda holds a special responsibility to lead by example in governance and human resource practices. Allegations of unfair promotions, if left unaddressed, can also harm the bank’s reputation in the eyes of regulators, stakeholders, and customers.
Repeated concerns over promotion fairness can also lead to escalation of disputes, with unions approaching labour authorities, as seen in this case. Once matters enter the legal domain, they can stretch for months or years, disrupting normal operations, creating administrative burdens, and generating further negative publicity.
To maintain the confidence of its workforce and uphold its integrity, it is imperative that Bank of Baroda undertakes urgent reforms:
- Publish written exam and interview scores in a timely manner
- Clearly define and share evaluation criteria
- Introduce grievance redressal mechanisms for promotion-related concerns
- Involve neutral third parties or observers in sensitive evaluation processes
