Are Promotions in Bank of Baroda not Fair: Officers of Bank of Baroda have raised concerns over the transparency of the upcoming Promotion Exercise 2025-26, urging the bank’s management to ensure fairness in the selection process.
In a formal letter addressed to Shri Debadatta Chand, Managing Director & CEO of Bank of Baroda, the officers’ union, led by President Parmanand Kag and General Secretary Manish K S Chauhan, highlighted past inconsistencies in the promotion process.
The union pointed out that in previous years, several officers with higher GEMS grades were overlooked for promotions, while others with lower grades were promoted. This issue was observed across multiple scales, including Scale I, II, III, and the Executive cadre.
A major concern raised was the lack of transparency in the declaration of marks for the written exam and interview. The delay in publishing these scores has created a sense of uncertainty and frustration among officers.
The union also referred to an earlier request made on December 15, 2023, where they urged the management to disclose marks immediately after the selection process. However, no action has been taken so far.
With promotion results expected to be announced on April 1, 2025, the union has once again requested that marks be published before the final merit list to ensure transparency. They emphasized that the entire process, from Scale I to Scale VIII, should be conducted in a clear and fair manner.
The officers’ union hopes that the Bank of Baroda leadership will address these concerns and take immediate steps to enhance transparency in the promotion process.
